As Ötztal's biggest village, Sölden has many highlights and contrasts to offer. The highly renowned ski sports resort boasts a huge choice of hotels and accommodations to suit all tastes. High up in the mountains you will also find fabulous hot spots and places full of contrast. While the superb ski area surprises its sports fans with top modern, eye-catching architecture with a special urban touch - like the unrivaled "ice Q" gourmet restaurant - there are also other, more silent places on the valley's eastern side - like Stallwiesalm or Kleblealm deeply rooted in the valley's pastureland tradition. Here the time seems to stand still: picture-book walking and hiking routes take avid nature fans right through snow-covered pastures and Alpine forests, past frozen mountain brooks. Also neighboring Zwieselstein is famous for its wintry highlights. A scenic cross-country skiing trail takes Nordic skiers along the Gurgler Ache brooklet towards Venter Tal valley.

IIn the summer, mountain aficionados can choose from some 300 km of marked hiking routes for all skill levels. Either you conquer the high Alpine trails leading towards 3000 meters above sea level or take a panoramic mountain lift ride to the valley's most beautiful vantage points. The upper part of the Ötztal Valley makes a true mountain bike heaven, boasting mainly challenging tours up to 2850 m altitude in close vicinity to the glacier fields. Right at the heart of Sölden you will find the ultimate Freizeit Arena leisure center where fun and action are scheduled for young and old: bowling, tennis, indoor rifle shooting, fitness hall, gym and an exciting indoor swimming bath.

The little mountain village of Zwieselstein can be found at 3 km south of Sölden, nestling in the foothills of mighty Nederkogel peak. Here the road forks-off to Vent and Obergurgl. What's best, Sölden's huge hiking area and the mountain lifts are only a stone's throw away, and also Obergurgl and Hochgurgl are within easy reach. In addition, Zwieselstein makes a wonderful base for multi-day hiking tours or hut-to-hut walks. The area's varied mountain inns serve mouth-watering specialties and local delights you shouldn't miss.
